Europe – Hydrothermal Carbonization

The scope of this study was a synthesis of the commercial status of hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) ventures based on information available from the public literature, including company websites and trade-industry publications.  The information is part of a proprietary database of over 1,000 ventures in the pyrolysis sector [including the solid-biofuel technologies:  torrefaction (biocoal), steam thermal (black pellets), slow pyrolysis (biochar), and hydrothermal carbonization (hydrochar)]. The report is interactive, with embedded hyperlinks to major references and company websites using or developing HTC processes.  In addition, an estimate of the commercial status of each venture is included.  The best-in-class ventures were contacted to request further information that would be relevant to the project of the client.

Sixth Element Sustainable Management maintains a comprehensive global database of over 1,000 biomass pyrolysis ventures. The Pyrolysis Venture Database is important for investors and entrepreneurs alike.  The information is a valuable resource for vetting the investment choices and assessing the competitive position of pyrolysis ventures.  Ventures often claim to have the best technology, but have no evidence to back it up.  The Pyrolysis Venture Database is a guide to where a venture stands relative to its peers and to the best-in-class technology providers.
