Kyoto Results

“Elements” – Kyoto Results – A major driver for the bioenergy and biofuels sector is to reduce CO2 emissions. Under guidance of the United Nations, many nations agreed to a Kyoto Target – an average of carbon emissions from 2008 to 2012 compared to 1990. The first of the CO2 emissions results have just been published by BP. Although not the official carbon accounting used by the UN, it presents a preliminary report card on how nations are doing. Overall, global emissions have increased by 45%. The Kyoto results for selected countries are shown in the table below.
